What is PVT?
Precise Visual Technologies is a sister company of Borton-Lawson, an engineering and architecture company that has been in business for over 25 years, with more than 150 employees dedicated to your needs, covering a broad spectrum of disciplines.
All of PVT’s staff are overseen by licensed surveyors. They will solely handle laser scanning services but they have the ability to coordinate with Borton-Lawson for any needed engineering or architecture services, to fully encompass your project needs.
What type of scanner do you use?
Leica ScanStation Laser Scanners
Why Leica Scanners?
- Leaders in the Industry
- Highly accurate survey grade laser scanners
- HDR imaging
- Can handle high temperature changes -4°F to 125°F.
- Meet IP54 rating for dust and water resistance
We previously had work performed with by a different company will it integrate?
Yes, we can tie the scans together using existing features or existing site control.
Is it safe?
PVT goes to great lengths to ensure scans are completed in safest manner possible. Our scanning equipment is equipped with a class 3R laser. A class 3R laser is low powered. It normally would not harm eyes during a quick exposure of less than 1/4 second. This is within the aversion response, where a person turns away and/or blinks to avoid bright light.
Can the scanner see through walls?
No, laser scanners do not have x-ray capabilities.
Do I need special software to view scan data?
Yes, but there are several free viewers that allow for measurements, note making, and coordinate identification.
How accurate can you scan?
Laser accuracy: 1/16th of an inch. Modeling accuracies vary depending on project needs.
How much does it cost?
During the proposal process, our team will work with you to determine the accuracy and requirements needed to provide a competitive cost savings solution.
I have existing plans, why would I do this?
2D plans assume “perfect” conditions; this is not the case in the real world. 3D plans will show the “real world” conditions; also they can be easier to interpret and can improve team collaboration.
Can you help me with design?
Yes, we partner with our sister company, Borton-Lawson
for design work.
Last time I scanned we received information that I can’t use.
Our team will take the time to make sure you are successful with the data they provide you.
